Our Services
SPORTS MEDICINE AND LAMENESS
We offer soundness exams that include radiology and ultrasound technologies to identify any joint and lameness issues your horse may be displaying. We perform joint injections to alleviate symptoms and enhance performance as well as employ regenerative therapies such as IRAP, PRP and stem cells as needed.
DENTISTRY
The dental health of your horse is paramount to top performance. A horse’s teeth continually grow and require periodic treatment. Dr. Ford is skilled in equine dentistry and will insure that your horse is in top dental health. Services include: Teeth Floating, Incisor Reduction and Realignment, Extraction, Cap Removal,Full-mouth Complete Balancing & Canine Teeth Reduction.
ENDOSCOPY
Endoscopy is the primary diagnostic tool for equine respiratory issues. We utilize a respiratory video endoscope to examine the breathing issues your horse may be experiencing. This type of instrument is very effective for respiratory diagnostic work by displaying an image on a television screen, making it possible for multiple people to view the procedure. Some common respiratory issues are: Equine Herpesvirus (EHV), Equine Influenza, and Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA).
CHIROPRACTIC
Misalignment throughout the body can limit top performance as well as being detrimental to overall health over time. We diagnose misalignment and perform various chiropractic adjustments to help relieve symptoms, realign joints and keep your horse in top shape.
HEMATOLOGY
Blood samples can be analyzed immediately in our full service blood lab.
Surgery
We perform trauma work and minor surgeries. All major surgeries and medical emergencies are referred.
About us
Dr. Ford has been working in the field of equine medicine for over 30 years. His greatest passion is the sport horse. In addition to his veterinary practice, he, along with his wife, Adrianne own and operate Elite Sport Horse, a boarding and training facility in Houston that focuses on hunting and jumping.
Dr. Ford is an avid polo player and has played polo throughout the United States for over 25 years. He was an All-American for Texas A&M University and played in three National championships during his time there. In addition to polo, Dr. Ford has recently taken up show jumping and on an off weekend you may actually find him doing both on the same day.
Dr. Ford brings and infectious enthusiasm into his work every day. As a fellow sportsman, he fully understands his clients and the unique needs of the competitive environment in which they work.
